A Sacred Eternal Jewish Dark Cafe (Sukkos 2011) By Saul Holcman On a rainy night chilly night in October she was thinking of the failed relationships and losers how easy to bore everyone; She confided with no words at all Seated in cynicism,,gloomy and lonely in this dark outdoor Jewish cafe, She wanted good conversation and soft kisses never knowing the price tag for this commodity is more precious than rubies, harder than cutting diamonds, A night in a tent aged by ancient desert winds/ of the seasons gone by/ Hues and echos of previous generations who sat there/ occupy the smells of evergreen that linger in the air now/ Bamboo branches guard the skies on the open roof designed for glancing at the stars and peeking at the endless loving sacred light beyond the shackles of words or time; an infinite light bulb placed in a chipping painted floral ceramic antique lamp with a simple string on/off switch that ends too soon... We settle in the Sukkot for a meal al fresco Less vulnerable and fragile together in this tent a small blissful corner, of this vast universe embracing intimate conversation or playful banter Tricky for sociable solitary time-confined creatures Its all we got,you say, Just this short ride- fleeing on he NY Thruway for a weekend get away upstate Do your really want to be free with no safety features- Crash and burn with no air bag to soften the blows of your thorny trapeze and misty romances falling off the bed sideways Nowhere Flute winds and cymbals play silently for the guests/ Pass the salt. Pass the wine. Pass the Rose. So plentiful the blessings in our heartbeats in this moment A holy meal with Friends and Family, Simple kindness can be so delighting..
